Senior Business Analyst
We are looking for a Senior Business Analyst to join our growing software consultancy team. The Senior Business Analyst plays a key role in bridging the gap between business needs and technology solutions, working within the product team to shape innovative solutions that drive our customers’ business objectives forward.
As a Senior Business Analyst, you will take on a highly consultative role, collaborating with clients to understand their strategic goals, gathering and refining business requirements and translating them into actionable insights. You will be responsible for managing stakeholders, facilitating product discovery workshops, developing product strategies, writing user stories and working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful delivery of impactful solutions.

Day to day
- Work closely with customers and cross-functional teams to deliver product solutions aligned with their business objectives.
- Act as a trusted consultant, understanding clients' challenges and advising on best-practice approaches.
- Lead stakeholder engagements, facilitating workshops and interviews to elicit and refine business requirements.
- Provide vision and strategic direction to development teams and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Create and maintain prioritised product roadmaps that align with client goals and market opportunities.
- Develop epics and user stories with clear, actionable acceptance criteria.
- Gain a deep understanding of market trends, competitor landscapes, and customer needs.
- Identify opportunities for business and process improvements, aligning solutions with best practices and industry standards.
- Drive continuous improvement for the BA and wider product team through knowledge sharing and mentoring.
- Play a key role in Product Discovery, ensuring solutions are validated and aligned with user needs.
- Advocate for a product mindset, fostering innovation and customer-centric approaches within Instil and our client teams.
- Support pre-sales activities, including proposal writing and client presentations.
- Ensure all deliverables are measurable, scalable, and contribute to the overall success of our clients’ businesses.
Need to have
- 4+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, preferably within a software consultancy environment.
- Proven track record of working directly with clients to understand their business needs and objectives.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business needs into actionable solutions.
- Extensive experience in writing user stories, creating roadmaps, and managing product backlogs.
- Expertise in facilitating workshops (e.g., design thinking, discovery sessions, and stakeholder alignment meetings).
- Passion for solving human problems through curiosity and empathy.
- Experience leading Product Discovery initiatives, validating ideas through research and prototyping.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
- Understanding of agile methodologies and experience working within agile teams.
- Ability to quickly adapt to new domains, industries, and client environments.
- Right to work in the UK (we are unable to provide VISA sponsorship)
Nice to have
- Experience working within a consultancy
- Knowledge of frameworks to understand customers, for example journey mapping or empathy mapping.
- Experience creating product strategies.
- Knowledge of UX principles and user research methodologies.
- Awareness of emerging technologies and practices.
